Quote for the Moment

Hey there Guys and Dolls!  I came across this wonderful quote that I would love to share.  I always always always say this, and I swear people never focus on these words.
"Stop looking for a partner.  Focus on your goals and rebuilding your life.  The right person will eventually find their way to you."  You need to be yourself, and focus on your life dreams and goals.  What do you want for yourself in your career and achievements?  If you see your path and travel down it without stopping for a rest your dream will be reached.

My life was in shambles for awhile.  I dated the wrong dudes, was in a bad relationship, lost who I was, and was in a life threatening car accident.  Finally you just have to wake up, and get back on that path to success.  I started to draw and paint again, and realized I wanted to pursue a masters in fine art.  So, that is exactly what I did.  I went back to school, had multiple art shows, freelanced for awhile, and my dream man literally came into my life.  Maybe, one day I will tell you the story of my fiance and I but that is one long story:)  I now only have five classes to finish for that MFA, live in Los Angeles, and engaged to the man of my dreams.

So, ladies and gentlemen focus on you!  That special someone will fit into your life perfectly when they come along.  You don't want to feel like that relationship is another job.  Instead it's something that you cherish and love.  I promise if you're patient they will come:)

Drink of the week!

Jenny and I are sitting at a bar in Santa Monica enjoying Happy Hour before our shift.  Shhhh, don't tell our boss.

Anyways, I wanted to share the cocktail of choice for the week.  Right now I'm enjoying a gin gimlet.  Shocker, after I just shared my new found love for gin.  The drink is delicious and gives a nice sweet taste.  It's very simple to make if you want to enjoy at home, or have at a restaurant or bar.

Pour 2 ounces of gin in a glass filled with ice, and top with fresh squeezed lime juice, or rose's lime.  Boom!  Simple!  You can also make it into a martini, or use vodka if you hate gin.

Cheers, and Happy Friday!!!!

Resolutions!!!

Happy New Year Liquor and Love Readers! Yes yes we know we are over a week late, but we’ve all been very busy getting back into the swing of things and getting out of the snowstorm back east! Today we wanted to talk about resolutions, 10 days into the new year and you may have already given up on yours. But its not too late! This year Shauna and I thought long and hard about ours (especially after the Christmas party debacle). Sidenote...Shauna and I did straight up life evaluations after that party. Anyhoo...thinking back over the years and listening to everyone’s resolutions year after year we decided it’s always the same. This year I will lose weight, I will work out more, I will eat healthy, I will quit smoking. And while ours may have a hint of some of that we decided to focus on little changes rather than big proclamations.  Working in a bar as fun as it is, is not always easy. You’re on your feet for hours on ends. You’re serving people drinks and burgers and fries. People want to buy you shots. People want you to be having a good time because they are partying so why aren’t you? Don’t get us wrong we aren’t complaining about being able to take a shot of tequila with some customers but after a while it does take a toll on your body and your level of productivity outside of that job. So this year we made our resolutions a little more focused. Jenny is going to concentrate on laying off the booze and french fries at work a bit. Focusing more on music and teaching yoga and not letting the bar be my main thing in life. And Shauna is going to concentrate on getting her MFA in Illustration, and her beauty business. You didn’t know we had all these skills did ya? The things you find out about your bartenders. I swear we aren’t just a couple of drunk girls in the bar taking your order! What we suggest is maybe sitting down and thinking about your big goals and what the little steps are for you to get there. Maybe have a friend that you talk to that will keep you on track. Shauna and I talk to each other and encourage each other (sometimes badly influence each other too). What are your resolutions? What are the steps you will take to get you there? Feel free to share in the comments. We love feedback and ideas for how to make goals and stick with them! It’s not too late. Every day you can start new. Happy Friday!!!
